In Russia, Stanford University has been declared an “undesirable” organization.
The Russian Ministry of Justice has added Stanford University to the register of “undesirable” organizations.
According to a statement on the agency's website, the Prosecutor General's Office made the corresponding decision on March 26. It was not publicly announced at the time.
Stanford University is ranked among the top five universities in the world by most authoritative university rankings. Its designation as an “undesirable” organization includes a ban on joint research projects with any Russian university.
Other leading American universities, including Yale University, the University of California at Berkeley, and George Washington University, have previously been included on the register of “undesirable” organizations.
