Deputy ZATO Fokino has become a suspect in a criminal case of attempting to bribe a traffic police officer, a correspondent for The Moscow Post in Primorsky Krai reports.
According to the regional department of the Investigative Committee, on December 21, the deputy was stopped for checks by traffic police officers on the Artem-Nakhodka-Vostochny port highway. It turned out that the local parliamentarian could get behind the wheel while intoxicated. To confirm his suspicions, the inspector suggested that the driver undergo a medical examination. In return, the deputy offered 25,000 rubles, which he put in the glove compartment of his official car. But the traffic policeman refused the bribe, he reported it to the duty unit.
A criminal case has been initiated under the article on attempted bribery. A written undertaking not to leave was taken against the local deputy. According to unconfirmed information, the detainee may be deputy Alexander Popenko.
