The Kirov Court in Ufa sentenced Azat Yangirov, former rector of the Institute for Education Development, to five years in prison. He was found guilty of abuse of power.

The investigation established that from 2020 to 2023, Yangirov systematically demanded part of the vice-rectors' bonuses “for patronage.” Fearing repercussions, the employees handed him over 1.5 million rubles.

The convicted man was also banned from holding leadership positions in government agencies for two years. The sentence has not yet entered into force.
