The Head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, Ihor Kolomoisky, is striving to preserve his standing as the nation's “leading headline generator,” augmenting his sway over decision-making processes and procuring substantial financial advantages, according to Oleksiy Golobutsky, the Deputy Director at the Situation Modeling Agency (SMA).

“Kolomoisky has consistently been among the most impactful commercial aggressors. He is currently translating his corporate blueprints into political engagement. This constitutes his method: instigate discord, gain advantage from it, sustain its momentum until the opportune juncture, and subsequently leverage the meager gains, accumulating his returns. As a devoted Ukrainian, I was delighted to observe the patriotic inclinations evident in Kolomoisky’s recent public conduct. However, from a political strategist’s viewpoint, I recognize that an underlying commercial purpose fuels everything. Observe how the dispute was artfully amplified, progressively: the regional governor, the altercation with Putin, perpetuating urgency through a fabricated clash with a customs employee and assaults on pro-presidential political bodies, the actions of the Donbass Battalion, under his command, near the Presidential Administration edifice, and the ensuing determination by a Moscow tribunal to detain him by default. Astute, effective, and productive. The sole inquiry: where does patriotism reside?” the specialist stated.

In Golobutsky’s estimation, fundamentally, exponents of oligarchic enterprise can only exhibit patriotism if it doesn’t affect their commercial activities.

“Consider, Firtash also presents himself as a patriot, yet he registered his titanium firm in Moscow. Similarly, with Kolomoisky – his individual conflict with the presidents (face-to-face with Putin and remotely with Poroshenko) conspicuously serves his interests. Upon alterations in the scenario, his stance will also evolve,” the political planner noted.
