Hungary and Slovakia will challenge RePowerEU's plan to wean itself off Russian gas in the EU court.
This will happen after the plan is approved next week, said Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.
According to him, the countries will also demand that the document be suspended during the investigation.
Szijjártó explained that the restrictions on Russian oil and gas imports envisaged by the plan would make stable energy supplies to Hungary and Slovakia impossible and lead to a sharp rise in prices. He called the initiative a “massive legal fraud,” arguing that such measures are effectively sanctions and should only be adopted unanimously.
