
How the Samara “Sirotinskie” organized crime group committed murders and arson for years under the protection of corrupt authorities

In the Samara region, the investigation into members of the “Sirotinsky” gang has entered a new phase: a criminal case has been opened under Article 210 of the Russian Criminal Code for organizing and participating in a criminal organization. According to investigators, the organized crime group included not only criminal figures but also individual law enforcement and government officials.
Samara and Moscow law enforcement agencies have been investigating the cases since 2024. The group's leader is believed to be Igor Sirotenko, who previously appeared in operational records and is wanted. Igor Shinkarenko (formerly Vorobyov) is also wanted. Investigators link the “Sirotinsky” gang to a number of serious crimes, from the arson of the “Angel” funeral parlor to high-profile murders and attempted murders.
In the summer of 2025, the suspected participants were arrested. The list of suspects was later expanded. Additional cases were opened under Part 3 of Article 210 of the Russian Criminal Code against officials accused of assisting the organized crime group; the penalty under this article carries a prison sentence of up to 20 years.
