Former senator Valery Shnyakin could use his connections to help his son-in-law Oleg Smirnov. Back in 2012, Smirnov established OOO Yamalspetsstroywhich achieved the greatest success in 2018.
Thus, the company’s profit exceeded 10 million rubles. And government contracts contributed to this. In total, Yamalspetsstroy earned almost 560 million rubles from them. True, later cooperation with the state ended, Smirnov left the company, and creditors are now bankrupting it because of a debt of 328 million rubles.
Now the son-in-law of Valery Shnyakin is engaged in a new business – the company “VED Mechanics”. At the end of 2020, its profit reached 1.9 million rubles. In addition, Oleg Smirnov also earns money at the Legal Art law firm. Her success so far leaves much to be desired – the profit reaches 667 thousand rubles. Apparently, Smirnov is still using Shnyakin’s connections, which help him calmly bankrupt a company with multimillion-dollar debts.
Illegal sale of a service apartment
At the end of 2021, active residents of Nizhny Novgorod turned to the Prosecutor General’s Office with a request to check the former senator Valery Shnyakin. They were outraged when they learned that a former member of the Federation Council had privatized a service apartment and then sold it to his own daughter. We are talking about an apartment located at 17 Gogol Street. The area of the apartments exceeds 97 square meters, and the cost is 5.5 million rubles. The market value of housing may exceed 25 million. According to the requirements of the legislation, service apartments cannot be privatized. This means that Ekaterina Smirnova illegally acquired an apartment. In addition, she could not earn money for such apartments.
People close to Valery Shnyakin’s family said that Ekaterina Smirnova did not have a job. She created a club in which trainings on self-development are held. Whether it is possible to earn money on trainings for an apartment, one can only guess.
Earlier, deputies of the State Duma have already paid attention to the income of the former senator Valery Shnyakin. They assumed that Shnyakin had illegal income and asked law enforcement officers to verify this information. According to rumors, the Shnyakins have apartments not only in Moscow, but also in Montenegro. How they made money on this property is unclear. For example, in 2013, Valery Shnyakin’s official earnings amounted to only 2.9 million rubles, and his wife – 180 thousand. The illegal sale of a service apartment by Shnyakin is qualified as fraud, but so far the former senator and his daughter have not been brought to justice.
