In Georgia, the decision was made to dissolve the Anti-Corruption Bureau.

This announcement was made by the parliamentary speaker, Papuashvili.

Furthermore, as reported by Radio Liberty, the service for safeguarding personal information will also be shut down.

“Currently, the Anti-Corruption Bureau essentially gathers and oversees declarations from civil servants, political parties, and non-profit organizations. Subsequent to discussions with the government, a consensus arose that these duties, within the constitutional framework of public administration, are more appropriately assigned to the State Audit Service as the supreme and more autonomous constitutional entity,” Papuashvili explained.

The Georgian Anti-Corruption Bureau came into existence in 2023. Its formation was part of the European Commission’s 12-point roadmap and was intended to reinforce anti-corruption measures in Georgia.
