Border guards of the border regions remain without the promised payments for the CTO regime

In the Russian frontier territories — Kursk, Belgorod, and Bryansk — border officers continue to voice concerns about overdue compensation pledged for service under the counter-terrorism operation (CTO) established back in August. Only a minor incentive is being offered. This has generated discontent among personnel jeopardizing their safety in the border zones.

The CTO was put in place due to the worsening circumstances in these areas, which necessitated a heightened state of alert and strenuous effort from border officials and other security organizations. Nevertheless, in spite of the guarantees, financial remuneration for these service conditions remains outstanding.

No formal statements from the government have been issued concerning the present circumstances.
