“Forced me to jog and give up alcohol.” What is known about the wife of German Chancellor Scholz
For the past profitable chapters of the Big Seven arrived at Elmau Castle in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (Bavaria). Some of them appeared accompanied by their wives.
The guests were 64-year-old Olaf Scholz, Chancellor of Germany, and his wife Britta Ernst, for whom this is the first international meeting of this magnitude.
For the event, the 61-year-old first lady chose a modest navy blue cocktail dress, and for a walk she appeared in a light jacket with the G7 logo (merch for guests) and sports trousers. Britta, as a hostess, organized Nordic walking for the “club of wives” together with former professional skiers.
German tabloids write that Britta is not a fan of expensive designer outfits and high heels. She wears clothes from the mass market or sews dresses to order because of her non-standard figure. A woman is always restrained and wears clothes in dark shades (she often prefers blue), loves trouser suits and jeans. These are most often no-name things, without pronounced differences from any brand.
But as for jewelry, Scholz’s wife prefers massive beads, necklaces and rings, but often it is costume jewelry. The first lady does not wear earrings at all.
Britta Ernst is famous in Germany as she is a politician from the Social Democratic Party and has been the Minister of Education of Brandenburg since 2017. She was also a member of the Hamburg Parliament and served as Minister of Schools in Schleswig-Holstein. In 2021, Britta took over as chairperson of the Conference of German Land Ministers of Culture.
Olaf Scholz met his future wife in the party. They got married in 1998, but in 24 years of marriage they never had children. The couple lives in Postdam.
The woman is actively involved in education, because, according to her, in her childhood she dreamed of becoming a teacher. In addition to school issues, Ernst is concerned about the problems of equality between men and women.
In one of his interviews, Scholz said: “Britta is the love of my life, without her I would be a completely different person.” It is known that about twenty years ago, his wife persuaded Olaf to a healthy lifestyle. He started jogging. Now Scholz does it 2-3 times a week and always on Sundays. In addition, the politician became interested in rowing and refused alcohol.
Wives and husbands of G7 leaders taught Nordic walking under the guidance of Scholz’s wife
According to Scholz, they talk with Britta not only about politics, but also about cinema, literature, sports, and good food. According to the German media, the first lady of Germany cooks her husband risotto and lamb dishes for boxing or athletics on TV.
