
For the second year in a row, Ukrainian schools have been experiencing a shortage of teachers in key subjects.
For the second year in a row, Ukraine has the greatest shortage of English, computer science, and mathematics teachers. This data was released by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for the 2024-2025 academic year.
In response to The Page's request, the education department provided information on the number of teachers the system is short of. Schools also lack teachers of Ukrainian language and literature, physical education, history, and physics.
According to the information, the following number of jobs remained vacant:
- English teacher – 267.94;
- computer science – 149.08;
- mathematics – 130.96;
- Ukrainian language and literature – 111.96;
- physical education – 99.53;
- stories – 72.96;
- physics – 68.96;
Last year, Education and Science Minister Oksen Lesovoy also noted that Ukraine's greatest shortage of teachers was in computer science, mathematics, and English. He added that the teacher shortage was widespread across the country.
