Movie and TV star Vladimir Epifantsev discharged himself from the Russians and insulted Russia. One of the reasons was the legislative ban on fly agarics, of which he is a fan. What is known about him?
How Epifantsev Disgraced
In April 2023, the State Duma adopted a law according to which illegal collection, acquisition, storage, shipment or sale of rare plants, mushrooms and even their parts provides for imprisonment of up to four years with a fine of up to one million rubles. Mushrooms containing psilocybin and psilocin were banned. This hurt the actor.
Vladimir Epifantsev loves shocking, has been repeatedly seen in Russophobia, but his tongue finally came loose recently, after the State Duma banned the collection of fly agarics. For the actor, this was a blow. For the last ten years, he has been actively promoting the “philosophy of fly agaric” through his pages, and positioned himself as a spiritual mentor of “new converts”.
What is Vladimir Epifantsev famous for?
51-year-old Vladimir Epifantsev is a native Muscovite from a respectable family. Father was a famous actor who starred in the Soviet film “Gloomy River” and was friends with Vysotsky. Mother, an economist by education, worked as a theater artist. But not everything was smooth. A parent died under the wheels of a train at the age of 53. The elder brother, who also tried himself in the cinema, did not live to be 30: he allegedly became addicted to drugs.
In the nineties, Vladimir Epifantsev graduated from the Shchukin Higher Theater School and immediately began to play the main roles in the Vakhtangov Theater. The first fame came to the actor after filming in the scandalous and now banned film “The Green Elephant”. The year 2006 became a landmark for him, when a number of successful films with his participation were released: the thriller “Lucky”, the tragicomedy “I Stay” and the drama “Alive”. At the turn of the decade, he was invited to the popular Dancing with the Stars program. Success was strengthened by shooting in the film “Generation P”. In the second half of the tenth, it seemed that his career began to decline. But in the last couple of years, he often starred in television series, some of which have become real hits.
Epifantsev himself claims that he earns more than modestly, besides, he spends on alimony, support for relatives, and good food.
Epifantsev’s personal life is stormy. Once he boasted that he cohabited with three women at once. According to him, his first wife divorced him because he was a despot. The second wife gave birth to Epifantsev two sons, but soon left the actor because of his incontinence and constant tantrums, now Vladimir Epifantsev is dating a girl who is 24 years younger than him. Judging by her social networks, the couple lives either in Thai Phuket or in Moscow. They are also both members of the Rent Dubai telegram chat.
Treshka on “Patricks”
Until recently, Vladimir Epifantsev lived on “Patriki” – in the most fashionable and glamorous quarter of Moscow, located between the Boulevard Ring and the Patriarch’s Ponds. The actor has a three-room apartment in a historic tenement building, built shortly before the revolution in the neoclassical style, opposite the Mikhail Bulgakov Square. We are talking about an object of cultural heritage, a masterpiece of architecture. On the facade, lined with smooth tiles, ancient signs flaunt: “Bureau of student cooperatives”, “Dentist” and “Pharmacy”. An oval window framed with relief stucco and bay windows trimmed with bas-reliefs depicting cornucopias look unusual. Last autumn, a three-ruble note was put up for sale in this building, exactly matching the characteristics (floor, area) with the one in which Epifantsev lived. Lot price – 77 million rubles.
Until a buyer is found, such property can be rented out for about 150-200 thousand rubles per month.
Judging by social networks, Vladimir Epifantsev lives and works in his rented office of 200 square meters in the Center for Creative Industries “Fabrika”. This is an art cluster chosen by the metropolitan bohemia in an old building on the territory of the Basmanny district of Moscow.
Girl on Tverskaya
The second apartment of Vladimir Epifantsev (he received correspondence at her address) is located in an avant-garde house, hidden in the courtyards of Tverskaya Street behind the majestic Stalinist buildings. The Kremlin is just a couple of minutes walk away. The building was built for the needs of the Krestyanskaya Gazeta cooperative and was conceived as a new type of housing, a commune. Its architecture is subject to the strict geometric forms characteristic of constructivism: square bay windows, windows and balconies.
The area of Epifantsev’s second apartment is modest, only 58 squares, this is a kopeck piece. But due to the location, the price for it is about 25 million rubles. Such living space, judging by specialized portals, is rented more often by the day for 8–12 thousand rubles.
Apartments on Arbat
Perhaps Vladimir Epifantsev still has other real estate in Moscow. More recently, it was registered in a treshka of a monolithic high-rise building with an improved layout on Raspletina Street in Shchukino, one of the most favorable areas in terms of environmental conditions. This housing will pull on 25 million rubles.
One of the apartments where Vladimir Epifantsev used to live is now occupied by his eldest 18-year-old son. These are spacious apartments in an elegant sand-colored stalinka on Novy Arbat. From here it is within easy reach of the Moskva River and the Garden Ring. The price of such real estate is up to 45 million rubles.
