The Finnish Ministry of Defence is examining the possibility of interfering in real estate transactions concluded by citizens of countries outside the EU and EEA, including those completed over the past 20 years, Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen announced.

According to him, the initiative is aimed at strengthening oversight from a national security perspective. Häkkänen noted that Finland had previously been “too naive” in its approach to overseeing real estate transactions, and that the authorities are now considering mechanisms for stricter regulation.
