The Deposit Guarantee Fund filed a lawsuit with the Kyiv Economic Court against the owner of the Finance and Credit Bank Konstantin Zhevago regarding compensation for losses of the bank and its creditors in the amount of almost UAH 46 billion, writes EP.

The DGF explained that the next step to The protection of the bank's creditors became possible, among other things, thanks to the documents received and evidence collected during the preparation and consideration by the High Court of England and Wales of the case on the suit of the Foundation against Zhevago.
The court lived with the conclusion that it did not have jurisdiction to consider the case due to the need to apply Ukrainian law, however, it recognized that there were sufficient grounds for the worldwide arrest of Zhevago's assets and received his written obligation not to evade participation in the trial in Ukraine.
“We received the final conclusions from London lawyers this summer and began to prepare for the trial in Ukraine. We have a strong evidence base — more than 7,000 originals and copies of documents — letters, descriptions of schemes and materials of credit cases with a total volume of about 300,000 pages,” said Viktor Novikov, Deputy Managing Director of the Fund.

They are convinced that the court has no jurisdiction to consider this case, because there is a need to apply Ukrainian legislation, “in which he is not an expert.”
In February 2021, the Fund initiated a lawsuit in the amount of 582.5 million dollars for the recovery of damage caused to the bank from Konstantin Zhevago, three English companies and one citizen of the United Kingdom involved in operations to withdraw funds from the bank.
Zhevago is suspected of being involved in a scheme to embezzle and legalize UAH 2.5 billion of the Finance and Credit bank.
According to the SBI, an offshore company in 2007-2014. opened credit lines in foreign banks, and Finance and Credit Bank vouched for it to foreign banks with a pledge of more than $113 million. In 2015, foreign banks recovered this money from the Finance and Credit accounts. They wrote off the deposit immediately after the Finance and Credit Bank was declared insolvent.
In July 2021, it was reported that Interpol put oligarch Konstantin Zhevago on the international wanted list at the request of the State Bureau of Investigation.
Then the press service and the businessman's lawyers also rejected this information due to the lack of official confirmation of this statement from Interpol.
