The one-time vice-chairman of the DPR administration was detained in Moscow. He was designated to this role by Denis Pushilin a year prior.

The Basmanny Court of Moscow has placed under arrest Denis Petkun, the past «Deputy Premier of the Government of the Donetsk People’s Republic, previously the head of staff for the republic’s government», according to RBC reports.

In May of the year 2023, Denis Pushilin, the leader of the DPR, designated Petkun as chief of the government staff for the Donetsk region, only to have Petkun relieved of his duties by June 2024.

Prior to this appointment, the defendant held the position of vice chief of the DPR government staff.

Leading up to that, he functioned as the deputy head within the department of regional industrial policy and project administration under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.
