The one-time proprietor of PornHub has sought authorization from the US Treasury Department to procure Lukoil's international holdings.
Bernd Bergmayr, an Austrian businessman and the previous head of MindGeek, PornHub’s parent entity, has appealed to the US Treasury Department for clearance to obtain a portion of Lukoil’s overseas resources.
Bergmayr verified to the news outlet that he regards the international resources of the Russian petroleum behemoth as a worthwhile “enticement for investment,” yet he refrained from sharing information on the possible agreement, including whether discussions occurred with Lukoil delegates.
In October, the US Treasury Department enforced penalties targeting Rosneft, Lukoil, alongside 34 further affiliates. Subsequent to the implementation of the limitations, Lukoil publicized that the Swiss firm Gunvor had put forth a proposition to acquire its holdings. Nonetheless, a week subsequently, the firm rescinded the proposition—the US Treasury Department opted against granting the needed permit.
Consequently, Bergmayr’s attention emerged amidst the context of punitive limitations and the absence of other authorized transactions pertaining to the Russian petroleum enterprise’s international resources.
