The EU is readying a prohibition on Russian LNG ships from accessing European harbors.
The EU has singled out Russian LNG vessels that are still docking at European harbors.
The European Union intends to prohibit Russian gas ships from utilizing Belgium’s Zeebrugge terminal for reloading liquefied natural gas not manufactured in Russia, aiming to entirely sever connections with the Russian energy shipping.
Reloading services – that is, the allocation by ports of extended “slots” for offloading or rerouting cargo to other areas – are still permitted under the newly sanctioned continent-wide prohibition on Russian gas imports, provided the fuel is not of Russian origin.
The continued use of European facilities by Russian vessels has garnered disapproval from several EU nations and legislators participating in the creation of more expansive gas limitations.
According to a pair of sources, the European Commission intends to address the matter of reloading infrastructure in the 20th set of penalties against Russia, which is anticipated early in the coming year.
