In turn, the TG channel of the Cheka-OGPU announced two attacks allegedly taking place, on airfields near Engels and near Ryazan. The channel posted a video from a surveillance camera, which, according to it, recorded an explosion at one of the airfields, where, allegedly, there are dead. The location of the incident has not been specified, Baza believes that the recording refers to Engels.
There are no exact data from local governments or the military at the time of publication. The information department of the Engels MR told BV that at the moment they have no official information about what happened. The Minister of Information and Press of the Saratov Region, Alexander Kolokolov, said that he is now on a business trip outside Saratov.

“Dear residents, information about a loud bang and an outbreak in Engels in the early morning is spreading on social networks and the media. I want to assure you that no emergencies occurred in the residential areas of the city. There are no reasons for concern. Not a single object of civilian infrastructure was damaged,” he assured the citizens, but clarified that “information about incidents at military facilities is being checked by law enforcement agencies.”
The airbase of the Russian Aerospace Forces in Engels is officially called Engels-2 “. The airfield in this area has existed since 1930. During the Great Patriotic War, it belonged to the Engels Military Aviation School. Actually, the Engels-2 base appeared in the 1950s, when a concrete runway was built. Now the Tu-160 and Tu-95MS strategic bombers are located at the airbase in Engels. In 2014, the air base was recognized as the best long-range aviation unit in the country.
