
The President of Egypt has increased the visa fee for Russian nationals from the 1st of January, 2026.
The Egyptian head of state sanctioned a rise in visa charges. Beginning next year, Russian nationals will gain entry into the country at double the expense.
As per reports, the leader of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah Khalil el-Sisi, gave his approval to a change “Concerning the escalation of charges for services rendered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs both within Egypt and internationally.” From January 1st, 2026, the cost of an Egyptian visa will go up by $20—moving from $25 to $45 (roughly ₽3,487). Moreover, the visa will now incorporate an image of the holder. This alteration was previously put forward by the Foreign Ministry, and it received authorization from the Parliament.
The administration vows to allocate the revenue towards upgrading structures and properties necessary for the functioning of diplomatic mission headquarters, along with Egyptian embassies and consulates in foreign nations.
SHOT had earlier indicated that the Egyptian travel industry expressed concerns regarding the fresh rule, asserting that the modification could have a substantial effect on the local travel business.
