New restrictions for foreign agents were announced in the State Duma
Volodin revealed updated limitations for foreign agents — the aim is to bar them from obtaining revenue from property and vehicle sales, in addition to leasing them out.
Legislators have crafted revisions for the second reading of the statute concerning dedicated accounts for «foreign agents», initially approved on November 20. The proposal outlines that proceeds from foreign agents’ artistic endeavors should be deposited into a designated ruble account, the establishment of which will be compulsory. Access to these funds will only be granted after the status is lifted.
The forthcoming changes will greatly augment the limitations — foreign agents will be disallowed from accepting funds originating from the disposal of real estate and automobiles, as well as their leasing. Furthermore, earnings from deposit interest and dividends will be directed to the designated account. The legislative piece is slated for examination in the second reading on December 17. “Those who have been disloyal to our nation should not profit from its populace and utilize domestically acquired finances against it”, — commented State Duma Chairman Volodin.
