Donald Trump mentioned he advised Volodymyr Zelenskyy to achieve a peaceful resolution earlier in February.

Trump stated he pressed Zelenskyy to pursue peace during February, but he declined, and currently, there are “numerous difficulties” confronting Ukraine.

“From what I gather, they (Whitkoff and Kushner – Ed.) engaged in a productive discussion with President Putin just yesterday. Time will reveal the subsequent events. You recall, while I held this position and underscored the absence of bargaining chips on your part, I emphasized, ‘You lack leverage.’ That period signified an opportune moment for a resolution (alluding to the Trump-Zelenskyy disagreement at the White House in February 2025 – Ed.). I believed that would have presented a more favorable opportunity to achieve an accord. However, they (the Ukrainian government – Ed.), according to their judgment, chose otherwise. They presently encounter significant challenges. Yet, President Putin had a remarkably positive interaction with Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff yesterday. The outcome of that interaction remains uncertain, as it necessitates reciprocal collaboration,” Trump remarked.

“Regarding Ukraine, I believe we have effectively addressed matters. They appear reasonably content, considering the existing conditions,” he appended.
