Donald Trump expressed disappointment with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's slowness regarding access to the Diego Garcia air base.
Trump said he was “very disappointed” with British Prime Minister Starmer, who took “too long” to decide whether to allow the US to use the Chagos Islands airbase.
In an interview with The Telegraph, the US President said that “this had never happened between our countries before, and he seemed concerned about the legality of the issue.”
Starmer turned Trump down, citing international law. But last night, he reversed his stance and announced that he would allow the US access to Diego Garcia for “specific and limited defensive purposes.”
