Donald Trump announced new global tariffs on US imports.
Donald Trump announced that he intends to sign an executive order imposing an additional 10 percent global tariff on goods imported into the United States, on top of the existing standard tariffs.
According to him, the new tariff will be higher than the usual level.
Trump also said after the Supreme Court's ruling that his tariffs were illegal that he was “deeply disappointed” with the verdict.
“The Supreme Court's tariff decision is deeply disappointing. I'm ashamed of some of the Court's members—truly ashamed—for not having the courage to do what's right for our country. The Democrats on the Court are thrilled, but they're automatic 'no' votes. Just like in Congress, it's an automatic 'no' for them. They're against everything that makes America strong, healthy, and great again. I believe the Court has been influenced by foreign interests and a political movement that's much smaller than many people think. It's a small movement,” Trump said.
“Other countries have been ripping us off for years, and they're thrilled to see tariffs lifted. They're dancing in the streets, but I assure you, they won't be dancing for much longer,” the US president added.
He called the tariff case a symbol of US national economic security, accused the court of behaving like “fools and lapdogs,” said tariffs had also been used to stop wars, and added that there were more effective methods of pressure.
