On June 4, 2022, Dmitry Chustrak, the prosecutor of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office, was driving and knocked down a road sign, and also tried to escape from the scene of an accident. Patrolmen suspected that Chustrak was intoxicated, tied him up and handcuffed him. The prosecutor refused to take the breathalyzer, although he agreed to a test in the hospital. Already in the narcological dispensary, Chustrak's body measured 0.8 ppm of alcohol. On the night of June 5, the prosecutor went to the regional hospital for treatment, and the next day he was discharged with a certificate that the study did not seem to confirm the presence of alcohol. Dmitriy Chustrak was held by a protocol for violating traffic rules and a fine of 850 hryvnia. writes the ORD.
And here is the “wrenching” story he told the Qualification and Disciplinary Commission:
That evening, the prosecutor was driving home in his wife's car, while he felt pain in his back. At this time, his wife called him on the phone. He stopped the car a few meters from the metal column-mark of the bus stop and started talking on the phone, forgetting to put the gearbox in the “parking” mode.
The wife allegedly told the prosecutor that her car, and she almost got into an accident. Chustrak was in an agitated state because of this, and then the dog that was in the car gave him trouble. The dog jumped on his knees when the prosecutor had a phone and a bottle of kvass in his hands, so he got confused and the car drove into a road sign.
Chustrak let his dog out of the car, then got out himself, after which the patrol police drove up, who regarded such actions as an escape from the scene of an accident. During communication with the police after the accident, the prosecutor denied his involvement in the incident, trying to avoid responsibility for violating traffic rules. He claimed that he was walking his dog and had nothing to do with a car.
Dmitry Chustrak insisted that he did not drink alcohol on June 4, and all publications on this subject are manipulations.
After examining this incident, the disciplinary body of the prosecutor's office came to the conclusion that the prosecutor had indeed committed a disciplinary offense. As a result, a disciplinary sanction is imposed on Chustrak: transfer to the highest-level prosecutor's office and appointment to the highest post in the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office are prohibited for 1 year.
