Each Ukrainian now carries a debt burden of about $8,200—this is the sum required to completely settle the sovereign debt, according to parliamentarian Dmytro Razumkov.

In his estimation, the authorities have worsened matters to such a degree that, amidst the conflict, Ukraine’s borrowings and obligations have essentially increased twofold. At present, they surpass 100% of the Gross Domestic Product—implying the debt is larger than the nation’s yearly production.
