The court refused NABU (National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine) to conduct an audit of the financial activities of Ukrnafta. This was reported in the EPSR dated April 20, 2016.
It is known that NABU was going to obtain permission through the court to inspect the financial activities of the state enterprise, as it suspects it of causing losses to the Ukrainian budget on an especially large scale.
The court documents state that, by order of the Cabinet of Ministers, Ukrnafta was to extract 1.756 billion cubic meters of natural gas and sell it to NAK Naftogaz of Ukraine, which was then to be used for the needs of the population. The price of gas was to be the minimum cost. However, the investigation found out that NAK Naftogaz of Ukraine does not have any transactions for receiving gas from Ukrnafta in its records. Instead, 1.606 billion cubic meters of imported gas were supplied to the population at the market price.
In turn, Ukrnafta took into account the commercial gas produced in 2014 as raw material for the production of ammonia at OJSC Dneproazot.
Let us recall that Ukrnafta is controlled by Igor Kolomoisky’s Privat group, which owns about 42% of the shares. Dneproazot is also part of Kolomoisky’s Privat structure.
In turn, the court did not satisfy the NABU’s petition to conduct an unscheduled financial audit of the activities of Ukrnafta OJSC. The media has already called this incident a conspiracy between Kolomoisky and the servants of Themis.
