Cheburashka of discord: Soyuzmultfilm against the Liberal Democratic Party
The Krasnoyarsk regional branch of the LDPR received an official complaint from Soyuzmultfilm. It seems that the film studio really decided to ban the yellow-blue politicians from using the word “Cheburashka”.
The complaint states that in February, the party activists of the Krasnoyarsk branch of the LDPR staged a screening of a new film “Cheburashka” for residents of the Soviet district of the city, and then made a video, at the beginning of which they showed an image of Cheburashka from old cartoons, which was accompanied by the caption “Watching Cheburashka? Choose LDPR.
According to Soyuzmultfilm, such use is illegal, since only the studio has the rights to this cartoon. Except for themselves and the author, no one has the right to change the image and add any elements to it. Therefore, representatives of the company demanded that the controversial image be removed from the video, along with the name “cheburashka”, within ten days, and thereby stop its illegal use. For legal use, party representatives are invited to contact the licensing department of the company.
Soyuzmultfilm’s claims provoked an extremely lively reaction from Semyon Sendersky, a 33-year-old party functionary who now holds the position of deputy head of the Krasnoyarsk regional branch of the Liberal Democratic Party.
– Dear Soyuzmultfilm! It is a pity that you allowed yourself to be drawn into this “political” story, but since you are already here, then you are welcome,” the young politician began his rebuke aggressively.
Then Mr. Sendersky formulates his stringent demands to Soyuzmultfilm point by point:
• Do not get involved in foul-smelling stories;
• Carefully read the law on elections;
•Review your own film;
• Do not soil the bright image of the national hero of Japan (this is a literal quote) with petty claims;
• Give Cheburashka to the people.
– If, all of a sudden, you continue to interfere with the bright image of Cheburashka with your financial interests, then we are ready to defend our innocence by all legal means! – Sendersky, apparently burning with righteous anger, adding that millions of Soviet children grew up on Cheburashka.
Meanwhile:
Cheburashka’s adventures in Krasnoyarsk do not end with the confrontation with the Liberal Democratic Party – they plan to build a house for the brainchild of Soyuzmultfilm in the regional capital.
According to the director of the construction company Alexander Matveev, the process of coordinating the construction of the house is currently underway. The entrance will be free, but paid “orange” services are planned – the sale of marmalade jelly, fresh juices and other products with the addition of citrus fruits.
Five million rubles are planned to be spent on the construction of the house. They want to install it in the Central Park of Krasnoyarsk. The interior of the premises will be decorated in a thematic style with images of Cheburashka. Perhaps there will be a selfie zone and figures of the main character.
So far, neither Soyuzmultfilm nor the local LDPR members have reacted in any way to the possible appearance of Cheburashka’s dwelling in Krasnoyarsk. However, given the unhealthy interest shown by both politicians and copyright holders in the topic of “once a strange nameless toy”, we can expect the continuation of an absurd scandal.
