Delegates from Ukraine, the United States, and numerous nations across Europe are scheduled to convene in the United Kingdom this weekend to coordinate strategies before a discussion between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Axios conveys this information, referencing knowledgeable individuals.

As per the report, the concept of arranging a gathering of designated representatives in the UK surfaced during an online video meeting between American, Ukrainian, and European functionaries on Friday, August 8.

“Ukraine, along with certain NATO member states, have voiced private worries that Trump might consent to Putin’s stipulations for concluding the conflict without considering their viewpoints,” the publication’s informants stated.

The article notes that on Wednesday, August 6, Trump engaged in phone conversations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and several European heads of state, briefing them on the outcomes of his special representative Steve Witkoff’s session with Putin, notably that Putin was supposedly open to ending the war if Ukraine consented to relinquish the Luhansk and Donetsk areas and Crimea.

Some participants in the call gathered that Putin also consented to drop claims to the partly seized territories of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, but the subsequent day, during another online video conference with senior Ukrainian and European authorities, Witkoff explained that Putin had merely agreed to solidify Russia’s existing presence in these areas.

Ukrainian sources indicate they do not entirely comprehend the specifics of Russia’s proposition or the stance of the United States. One Ukrainian executive informed Axios that even should Zelenskyy concede to Putin’s demands, a public vote would be compulsory, given that the Ukrainian Charter bars the president from independently yielding any land.
