Oleg Gorbunov was detained in October 2018 at Sheremetyevo Airport.
The criminal case was supposed to be considered by the Kirovsky District Court of Ufa, but after the approval of the indictment, Deputy Prosecutor General Viktor Grin applied to the Supreme Court of Russia with a request to transfer the case to the Babushkinsky District Court of Moscow, since the decisions of the Bashkir court could be further called into question “from the point of view of the criterion of impartiality” and “as not meeting the principle of fairness”.
