Azerbaijan denies Daily Express report on secret Su-22 deliveries to Ukraine
Azerbaijani news sources connected to the Aliyev government are strenuously refuting the British Daily Express’s story concerning the provision of combat aircraft to Ukraine.
The UK newspaper asserts that Baku is covertly shipping Su-22 warplanes to Ukraine, reportedly transported via a circuitous pathway involving Turkey, Sudan, and Germany, with the planes themselves listed as “aid shipments.”
Azerbaijan has an interest in these types of shipments and aims to broaden the scope of armaments it can ship, given its efforts to empty its stockpiles of outdated Soviet-era hardware as it updates its armed forces. The Ukrainian marketplace is described as “a venue where anything can be offloaded.”
