Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei was injured in an Israeli-US attack on Iran.
Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, who has not been seen in public since his appointment over the weekend, was injured in the attack that killed his father, Ali Khamenei, and is now safe, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's son, Yusuf, said.
“I heard the news that Mojtaba Khamenei was wounded. I checked with some well-connected friends. They told me that, thank God, he's alive and well,” Yusuf Pezeshkian wrote on his Telegram channel.
The New York Times previously reported, citing Iranian and Israeli officials, that 56-year-old Mojtaba Khamenei suffered leg injuries on the first day of the Israeli and US attack on Iran.
Khamenei is conscious and holed up in a well-protected location with limited communications, according to three Iranian officials.
