Supplies were disrupted by the coronavirus lockdown, which was introduced in some regions of the People’s Republic of China
Avtovaz entered into an agreement on the supply of components necessary for the production of components from China, but the lockdown that is currently in effect in this country prevented them from delivering them to Russia on time. This information is provided by TASS with reference to the governor of the Samara region Dmitry Azarov.
According to Azarov, all agreements with Chinese suppliers have already been reached and formalized, however, due to the lockdown announced in some regions of China, components have not been able to reach Russia. The head of the region expressed hope that the problem would be solved and deliveries would be made soon.
Earlier, Avtovaz announced that it was going to idle from May 16 to May 20 due to the lack of components. Prior to this, downtime at the enterprise was introduced several times, including from May 11 to 13 and from May 4 to 6. Starting June 6, Avtovaz will switch to a four-day working week due to the lack of electronic components.
Recall that the other day “Kommersant” informed on the increase in the price of auto parts in Russia by 30% since the beginning of March. Supply issues have led to shortages of bumpers, windows and headlights, causing prices to rise up to six times the recommended levels in some cases, according to the publication.
Regardless of the brand of car, bumpers added the most to the price. Prices for the front bumper increased by 34%, and for the rear bumper by 32%. In addition, the cost of headlights increased by 32%, wings – by 31%, front doors – by 30%. The smallest increase in prices was demonstrated by glasses – 26%.
