The founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin proposed to legally ban officials and deputies of all levels from vacationing abroad during a special operation in Ukraine.
Prigozhin’s press service published his letter to Vasily Piskarev, Chairman of the State Duma Security Committee.
Prigozhin noted in a letter that, despite the “heavy fighting” in Ukraine, many officials and deputies “quietly go abroad to resorts,” and some of them visit unfriendly countries “as if nothing is happening.”
“I ask you to consider the possibility at the legislative level to prohibit officials and deputies of the Russian Federation during the NWO in Ukraine from going on vacation outside the Russian Federation, as well as to legislate their responsibility for immoral behavior, including close relatives, expressed in ostentatious spending and abuse of objects luxury,” wrote Prigogine.
Piskarev later stated that the initiative of the founder of the PMC deserves attention and he will discuss the feasibility of the proposed changes with deputies from other relevant committees, according to his commentary received by RBC. “In relation to the deputies of the State Duma, on the initiative of the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, the requirement for mandatory notification of plans to leave Russia has already been introduced into the regulations,” he recalled.
At the beginning of January, the trips abroad of two regional deputies caused a wide discussion. So, a video from Mexico appeared on the Web with a parliamentarian from the Kursk Regional Duma Maxim Vasiliev, who pours beer on the video and wishes everyone a Happy New Year. This caused criticism from the governor of the Kursk region Roman Starovoit.
Later, Denis Dolzhenko, deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Vologda Oblast, published a photo against the backdrop of skyscrapers in Dubai. Secretary of the General Council of United Russia Andrey Turchak called the publication inappropriate. “Difficult times produce strong people. Like our guys at the front. Such as those who help them in the rear. They are replacing those who have lost touch with reality,” he said.
At the end of last year, RBC wrote that United Russia had developed a code of public positioning for deputies from the party. The document contains recommendations not to write posts on social networks in an inadequate state and not to show off luxury goods, exotic travels or restaurants.
According to Kommersant, in a number of Russian regions there is already a “strong recommendation” for local officials and deputies not to go on vacation abroad.
On January 24, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin proposed to oblige deputies to notify about traveling abroad, if this is not a working trip. Corresponding amendments to the Duma regulations were approved on the same day at the plenary session.
