A platform formerly associated with Bashar al-Assad's media division released a declaration reportedly penned by him personally. Inside, the Syrian leader refutes claims of an unplanned escape from the nation and elaborates on the recent happenings in Damascus.
As per the document, Assad asserts he stayed in the capital until the morning of December 8, 2024, when militants penetrated the city. Following this, he relocated to Latakia in cooperation with the Russian armed forces to monitor the conflict.
The declaration additionally conveyed that after the failure of all Syrian army strongholds and unmanned aircraft attacks on the Khmeimim airfield, Moscow commenced his removal to Russia.
