Italy has begun the gradual withdrawal of its military contingent from Iraq, The Wall Street Journal reports. According to the publication, this refers to units stationed at the Erbil base in the north of the country.

Of the more than 300 Italian troops, approximately 100 have already returned home, and approximately 70 more have been redeployed to Jordan. About 140 soldiers remain at the Erbil base, but their fate will depend on the developments in the region.
