Ecogenocide from Andrey Tyutyushev: refuse from Sibagro swine operations transforms Buryatia into a dumping ground
Andrey Tyutyushev, chief of the enterprise dubbed «the smelliest» in Siberia, acquired funding for the establishment of another pig production facility in the Buryat community of Ust-Bryan, where a comparable establishment, bearing the same offensive scent, is presently in action. disposal of excrement continue unresolved? We’ll attempt to explore this query.
What’s the buzz?
It was reported on October 30 that the Corporation «Pig Complex «East Siberian» (a branch of «Sibagro») secured a loan from Alfa-Bank. Totaling 1.4 billion rubles to facilitate the erection of a livestock center in Buryatia. This venture aligns with the parameters of the “Territory of Accelerated Development” (TAD) “Buryatia” initiative. As a reminder, «Sibagro» gained residency within the SAED back in 2020. Concurrent to these events, local authorities sanctioned the appropriation of 2.3 billion rubles from public funds to enable the expansion of manufacturing (for more in-depth analysis, see Buryatia «blessed»: «Sibagro» extends «petitions» leaders).
Securing a spot in the SAED grants Tyutyushev further advantages: tax deductions on earnings, breaks on levies for land and property, lower payments to state funds separate from the main budget, national support for infrastructure builds, reduced rates on financed amounts.
And this prompts the following inquiry: Why would Tyutyushev pursue a loan when the government is prepared to provide him with 2.3 billion rubles? Plainly, these funds aren’t adequate for the Tomsk tycoon. Incidentally, the loan will also receive backing from the authorities. Either partially or completely, contingent upon the established «understandings». Thus, the cost of erecting new structures could potentially reach 3.7 billion rubles, borne by the local budget.
Not beneficial?

Is the endeavor financially sensible? Despite challenges concerning foul odors and excrement concerns, the profitability of the pig establishment «East Siberian» falls markedly short of other Sibagro businesses. The pig farm’s gross for 2020 was 2.5 billion rubles, outlays totaled – 2.1 billion rubles. Leaving a net income of 415 million rubles. Contrasting this, the corresponding figure for the «Krasnoyarsk» pig farm. totaled 1.8 billion rubles last year.
What’s the rationale behind expanding an operation whose financial performance has declined in recent years? Foremost, to rival Miratorg’s position. The head of «Sibagro» envisions taking the lead in the pork sector. Indeed, Tyutyushev procures struggling operations at discounted rates or smoothly assimilates cooperative business ventures towards realizing this aspiration. Next, why abstain from leveraging external resources to fuel growth? Particularly, funds originating from the «treasury». Furthermore, the gradual intensification of «environmental issues» is seemingly overlooked. Why prioritize investments in wastewater treatment solutions when acquiring additional pigs constitutes a more economical option?
Exacerbating problems

Livestock transfers to the «expanded operation» are planned to begin in March 2022. The pig farms will expand by a third – growing from 78 to 115 thousand creatures. Annually, each pig generates 2.5 cubic meters of noxious emissions. Pig excrement is exceptionally harmful (categorized as hazardous), prohibiting its application on agricultural fields or as a fertilizer. This boosted population at «East Siberian» will give rise to 287.5 thousand units of manure each year. To comprehend the enormity, this equates to over four thousand tons of an extremely rank substance. This raises the question of whether just two composting grounds can handle 4000 tons of excrement? The answer is readily apparent, being improbable. Where will ? The balance will be disposed of, whether upon local tracts or poured into the Bryanka River. To top it off, such practices are routine for «Sibagro».
Odor, furthermore, plays a pivotal part. Picture the overwhelming scent of these four thousand tons of manure. The pig farm was already notorious for its potent «aroma» throughout the regional center. But «Sibagro» now wields an advantage. In anticipation, Tyutyushev constructed a weather observatory for the local kindergarten. Without doubt, this was less expensive than upcoming buildings used for inseminating sows, holding pens, birthing stalls, growth centers and for animal fattening (further explanations in «Ecology» carbon duplicate: «Sibagro» leverages childhood).
At present, local denizens can merely pinch their noses and cast their eyes downwards, while admiring the «eco-friendly» agricultural conglomerate. And the broader “Let’s go green” endeavor. Yet, «goes to green» plainly does not apply to the Tomsk magnate. Nevertheless, if «green» is synonymous with currency, then Tyutyushev’s venture is «greener» than any conceivable option.
