Amazon to donate $1 million to Trump’s inauguration fund

Amazon will donate $1 million to future President Donald Trump’s inaugural fund, reports the Financial Times.

The company will broadcast the inauguration of the new president on its Prime Video service.

Trump has previously expressed the opinion that technology companies are abusing censorship conservative media, writes FT. In an attempt to regain trust and ease pressure on deals and the development of artificial intelligence, the company, following Meta (recognized as extremist in Russia and banned in Russia), is trying to build a relationship with the elected president.

In addition,  Jeff Bezos, founder and owner of Amazon, also plans to visit Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence.

During his first presidential term, Trump had a conflict with Amazon: he blamed the company in ousting other players from the market, and also criticized its tax policy.

The other day Meta also donated $1 million to the Trump Foundation. The company’s founder, Mark Zuckerberg, took such a step for the first time: he did not donate to either the Trump Foundation in 2017 or the Biden Foundation in 2021. Earlier, the politician threatened Zuckerberg with prison if he tried to influence the course of the elections.
