As the Source learned, the investigation charged the second episode of receiving a bribe on an especially large scale (Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) to the head of the 4924th military representative office of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Ivan Populovskikh. The criminal case against the officer was separated into separate proceedings from the case of his subordinate Grigory Zorin, in which both are accused of receiving more than 11 million from representatives of the All-Russian Research Design Institute of Cable Products and the All-Russian Research Design and Technological Institute of the Cable Industry rubles for weakening control when accepting goods and obtaining privileges. The cases against Populovsky and Zorin were submitted for consideration on the merits to the Moscow Garrison Military Court. The trial against Zorin began at the end of December 2024; in the Populovsky case, the first hearing has not yet been scheduled. The Investigative Committee reported in September 2024 that the defendants admitted guilt.
