Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's security detail allegedly attacked protesters in Washington, D.C., calling for the release of Azerbaijani political prisoners.

“Protesters calling for the release of political prisoners in Azerbaijan said they were attacked by President Ilham Aliyev's bodyguards outside the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Washington, a few blocks from the White House, on the afternoon of February 19,” the publication said.
Washington police reported the attack to the State Department. The Azerbaijani Embassy in the United States did not respond to journalists' requests for comment on the allegations.
