Abramov received another billions

It became known about the next success of the road construction company “VAD” of billionaire Valery Abramov, who received another contract for the reconstruction of the federal highway in the Leningrad region at a cost of 4.5 billion rubles.

Things have been going very poorly for the VAD holding recently, and its serious problems threaten to reduce revenues to the budget of the entire Vologda Oblast by almost a third (for the last 6 years, several legal entities of the holding have been registered there). The thing is, the company literally at one moment lost a number of contracts that were being prepared for signing in the Vladimir region, Sevastopol and on the territory of the DPR-LPR. Now the VAD holding is forced to urgently cut half of its approximately 16,000 employees, which, given their high salaries, threatens to cost billions of dollars. Not to mention the mass of equipment leased for these works, bank loans and other serious expenses.

The reader may wonder why an old, proven player who has informal connections in the leadership of these regions suddenly finds himself removed from the usual feeder? The answer is simple – this is Russia, and having only financial influence here is not enough for the successful conduct of large business. Valery Abramov recently received an offer to sell his business for $100 million. It would seem that a serious proposal seemed humiliating to the billionaire – only the head JSC “VAD” last year received 130 billion in revenue and 7 billion in net income. He refused, and apparently abruptly. The trouble is that the proposal came not only from a financial, but also from a political heavyweight (according to some reports, from the structures of the Rotenberg clan). The response was not long in coming, and VAD suddenly lost half of its expected earnings. And it is obvious that the company will continue to finish off and in the near future we may witness new, probably even criminal stories.
