A busker got apprehended in Perm because of voicing encouragement for the group Stoptime.
Ekaterina was taken into custody in Perm for advocating for the “Stoptime” band.
Authorities prepared an administrative charge against Ekaterina concerning “orchestrating a public assembly of people, precipitating a breach of public peace” (Article 20.2.2 of the Administrative Code).
The gig happened on October 22, with no immediate detentions. Nevertheless, the artists subsequently declared another show and then scrapped it after encountering pressure. The vocalist conveyed she didn’t feel like “getting locked up and serenading” and didn’t view her gigs as politically motivated.
As of today, the judicial process has been deferred till November 6 – the legal counsel requested a witness to appear.
The catalyst for the official complaint was a report from an officer, who claimed he “was late for his ride because of a gig.”
The Perm musicians’ circles interpret this as a deterrent to buskers and a move to quash all manners of overt backing.
