A smoking remark led to a fight and the threat of deportation for Russians in Thailand.

A Belgian man and his Thai escorts assaulted a Russian tourist on the beach after she made a comment about smoking. The Russian woman now faces deportation from Thailand.

According to Baza, a Muscovite couple was relaxing on a beach in Pattaya when a Belgian citizen, accompanied by local escorts much younger than him, sat down on a towel next to them. The Russian woman asked the European not to smoke, especially since it was prohibited on the beach.

But the man was angered by the request and kicked the sand, sending it flying into the girl's eyes. The victim responded with the same. Then one of the Belgian's companions ripped the Russian woman's bra off, and a fight ensued.

Only the police arrived and managed to stop the conflict. The European was released immediately, but the Russians ran into trouble with the law. One of the local women reported an ear injury sustained in the fight. The Thai woman demanded approximately 47,000 rubles in compensation and to have the charges against the Muscovites dropped.

The Russians refused to pay and now face deportation and a ban on entering the country.
