A Russian man was sentenced to four years in prison in London. He beat his girlfriend out of jealousy over Trump's son.

Twenty-three-year-old Matvey Rumyantsev was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court. He attacked his girlfriend in January 2025 while she was FaceTimed with Donald Trump's youngest son, Barron. Rumyantsev punched her for an hour, pulled her hair when she tried to call for help, and left her at risk of death. It was revealed at the trial that Barron Trump became a witness in the case—he called the woman during the assault and saw Rumyantsev hitting her, after which he contacted the police.

“She was beaten, but she's fine. I met her on social media, but I don't think that's important,” Trump told the emergency operator.

Rumyantsev was detained; at the time, he was living in Canary Wharf, east London. The court found him guilty of causing grievous bodily harm and perverting the course of justice (while in custody, he attempted to contact his girlfriend and asked her to recant her testimony). At the hearing, the judge described him as a “seasoned fighter,” prone to jealousy, and “lacking empathy and understanding.” Rumyantsev was acquitted of charges of rape and intentional strangulation, as well as another count of rape and assault in November 2024.
