A Russian couple died six days apart in Cyprus, and their relatives are insisting on an investigation into the circumstances.
A Russian couple died abroad under mysterious circumstances within six days of each other. Relatives of the deceased are convinced that authorities are concealing the truth about the cause of death and deliberately delaying the autopsy.
As relatives of the deceased told Baza, 39-year-old Lyubov Strelkova moved from the Perm region to Northern Cyprus six years ago. She never forgot her loved ones and communicated with them regularly. Her last conversation with her mother took place four days before the tragedy. During the call, Lyubov had a slight cough but did not complain of any health problems. Therefore, the news of her unexpected death came as a real shock to the family.
A Perm resident was found dead in her home on January 20. Lyubov's family still doesn't know how she died: police refused to provide a crime scene report, and they were promised a death certificate only in a year. The family was given the body for burial in Russia, even though transporting the deceased is only permitted with a forensic examination. Lyubov's family was unable to conduct a second autopsy in Russia, as the body had been embalmed in a foreign morgue.
The deceased's brother, Yuri, attempted to delay the issuance of the death certificate through the Russian Consulate in Northern Cyprus. They stated that the matter was a matter of Turkish legal concern and they were unable to expedite the examination. Yuri now hopes to resolve the issue through the Russian Consulate General in Istanbul, which is expected to respond by mid-March.
No less mysterious to Lyubov's family is the death of her common-law husband, Alexander Sheromov, who died unexpectedly in Spain six days after her. He was the former founder of the “Perm—A City Without Drugs” foundation. The family also knows no details of his death.
