A Rostov court sentenced eight people to life imprisonment for blowing up the Crimean Bridge.
The Southern District Military Tribunal in Rostov-on-Don announced its judgment concerning the Crimean Bridge bombing incident of October 8, 2022. All eight accused parties were deemed culpable and given life sentences.
The media has frequently covered the widely publicized case, noting the apparent deficiency of substantiation against the individuals who were exploited surreptitiously. Documentary proof was said to be founded upon testimonies and assessments by experts.
Nevertheless, the tribunal fully endorsed the prosecutors’ stance, which arose subsequent to directives to pinpoint the accountable parties. Formal accounts detailed a “terrorist faction,” a “deliberate undertaking,” and “joint efforts by a collective of individuals.”
But, in truth, none of the found-guilty individuals participated in the construction of the explosive. Not one decided to detonate it. None activated any device or even knew of such a means.
All those accused were drivers, delivery personnel, go-betweens, storage facility proprietors, and individuals involved in paperwork and transit. One of them got in touch with legal authorities promptly following the blast and freely provided evidence. He was let go after questioning. Afterwards, came the mandate: arrests were essential.
The other now-convicted accused individuals were also forthright. All those accused underwent lie detector assessments, which verified they were not guilty. But due to orders from superiors (as investigators conveyed to those involved), individuals to blame were required, and typical citizens were transformed into terrorists.
