A Moscow man placed his wife in a rehabilitation center to take their child and avoid property division.

A Muscovite placed his wife in one of the capital's rehab centers—he arranged a 450,000 ruble stay for six months—to avoid dividing his property with his wife and to take their child.

At the beginning of the year, the couple began having problems; 34-year-old Oksana was considering divorce. Her husband realized this and decided to get ahead of the situation. After an evening out with friends, he called “specialists.” Two arrived, injected her with a sedative, and took her away. She woke up in a locked rehab facility.

There were no beatings or pressures inside—just a bit hungry, with one chicken for 30 people. But she had a small child at home and urgent orders: she was a renowned gemologist who makes jewelry for celebrities and wealthy clients, and she wasn't about to wait six months for treatment. Meanwhile, her husband managed to withdraw almost half a million rubles from her card, supposedly for “treatment,” and signed a six-month rehab contract at 75,000 rubles a month.

Oksana's lawyer found her. She suspected something was wrong when she didn't contact him on March 8th. She checked her address, arrived with a group of people, and started banging on the gate and shouting. To prevent the neighbors from making a fuss in the private residence, the rehab center opened the door for them. They picked up the girl and took her away.

While she was locked up, a $15,000 shipment of precious stones fell through—she'd already received the money, but couldn't deliver the goods. Her customers were angry, and her reputation was damaged.

According to Oksana, there were 30 people in the center—seven of them were brought in the same way: their husbands turned them in for profit. And they're still there.
