However, local social media and online groups reported a mass infant death. Up to nine newborns may have died during the New Year holidays. The tragedy may have been related to a staffing shortage: nurses' duties were allegedly being performed by orderlies. However, maternity hospital management claims there is no staff shortage.
The Investigative Committee has launched an investigation into negligence.
