A man who beat the mayor during a personal meeting in Yeniseisk was arrested.

A judge has placed a resident of Yeniseisk under arrest for physically attacking the city’s chief executive, Valery Nikolsky, during an audience with him, as reported by the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Khakassia.

As per Kommersant-Siberia, the accused is identified as Mikhail Kolyvanov, age 46, with a past conviction for narcotics distribution.

Law enforcement sources indicate that the suspect arrived for a private conversation with the mayor without prior scheduling, and the mayor requested he take off his headwear inside. In reaction, the visitor became disrespectful and then physically assaulted the mayor. The officeholder was admitted to the hospital suffering from a nasal fracture and a closed head trauma.
