A fetid monastery: “Sibagro” has polluted Buryatia too
Residents of Buryatia contacted the media, providing materials from an investigation into the illegal activities of the East Siberian pig farm “Sibagro”.
According to the observations of villagers, the enterprise, through roundabout routes, discharges stinking waste directly into the tributaries of the Uda River, which then flows into the Selenga.

Babr spoke more than once about how operating and even abandoned enterprises in Buryatia mercilessly destroy the ecology of the region, and at the same time the health of local residents. This time, the dark side of another economic entity of the republic was revealed. It became the JSC East Siberian Pig Farm “Sibiagro” (OGRN: 1090327007627), located in the Zaigraevsky district of Buryatia.
Due to the open sumps of the pig farm, the entire stench spreads throughout the area. Residents of the villages of Onokhoi and Ust-Bryan sounded the alarm due to the incessant stinking odor and obvious pollution of nearby rivers. One of the local residents decided to conduct a survey in the Viber group “Anonymous Onokhoy”. It discussed signing a petition: forcing the pig farm to improve water quality in rivers and air. Almost 99% of those who voted were ready to sign the petition.
Then, at the request of the residents of Onokhoy and Ust-Bryan, an initiative group of Onokhoy residents independently conducted a mini-investigation. In search of the sources of the stench and examining the Melnichnaya River (not far from Uda), which, according to local residents, had turned into a stinking muddy slurry, the group hit the road.
First of all, residents explored the streams and tributaries of the Uda, which are shown on the map above. As a result, a confluence of two streams was discovered, in one of which the water more closely resembles sewage (watch the video below). Next, it was necessary to understand what contributed to the cloudiness of the water in this stream.

In the video provided, the group first explored the area near the Uda River. And then she went up and walked along the slope towards the lagoons of the pig farm, since below the slope runs that very dirty Melnichnaya River and the neighboring stream.
Along the cliff, a pipe was seen through which pumping stations pump liquid feces into the lagoons. In some places, according to eyewitnesses, you can clearly see waste draining down the slope, as indicated by the eroded soil and lack of vegetation in this place.
Moving further, the initiative group began to find more pipes sticking out of the ground. These are so-called inspection pipes, which are used to clear blockages in the sewer system. But what causes the blockages is questionable.
Those inspection pipes
There is an assumption that there may be a pipe underground in the slopes that discharges waste from the pig farm (from the lagoons) into the nearest rivers. There is very significant evidence for this: literally fifty meters from one such pipe in the bushes there is literally a fecal swamp.
We will tell you a detailed investigation into the fact of environmental pollution by the East Siberian Pig Farm in the next article.
