A Buryatia court fined a teenager for a Telegram user that police linked to extremist symbols.

Authorities monitoring social networks for banned material discovered the Telegram account of an 18-year-old Buryatia local.

The profile featured the handle “auezinvoram,” which cops interpreted as a variation of “AUE”—a movement that is officially deemed extremist in Russia.

Following the inquiry, the adolescent was called in to provide clarification. He stated that he created the handle in the distant past and had no connection to extremist posts or iconography.

Nevertheless, these justifications didn’t change the ruling. The court imposed a fine of 1,000 rubles on the youth.
